Frank Nieto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and co-owner of Cameron Park Counseling Center. Frank brings to the practice the experience that comes from a long a diverse clinical career. Frank began his career as a young Neuro-Psychiatric Specialist in the US Army where he saw service in Europe and Vietnam. From the Post Traumatic Stress Disorders of the soldiers in Vietnam to the emergency room patients at UC Davis Medical Center, Frank’s skills in assessing and treating acute and emergency situations are unparalleled. Upon graduation with his Master’s Degree in Social Work, he continued his career at UC Davis Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry where as Director he administered 24 hour clinical programs such as the Psychiatric Emergency Services, Psychiatric In-Patient Services, Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Services and Clinical Social Services, for various departments including neurology. In addition, as a member of the Department of Psychiatry, he became a Clinical Instructor, teaching various clinical classes to medical students, MSW graduate students, nursing students, psychology interns and psychiatric residents (doctors who are preparing to become psychiatrists).
In addition to his career at UC Davis Medical Center, Mr. Nieto, as part of his practice at CPCC, has provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. His areas of expertise include working with individuals and families struggling with their relationships, as well those who had issues with addiction such as drugs, alcohol and sexual addictions. Mr. Nieto is particularly skilled in working with adolescents and their parents and with those couples struggling to resolve marital conflicts. His approach of mutual respect, mindfulness and honoring individual need for autonomy has made him particularly successful with teens and their families.
